Last week, we read Sandra Cisneros' short-story "Eleven." Many similes are used throughout the story to describe Rachel's feelings on her birthday. Below are a few examples of similes taken from the story. Remember that a simile is a comparison, usually of two unlike things, using the words "like" or "as." To Do:
Go to your Google Docs and create a document entitled "Age." Remember that your document should be named as follows: "Reading.AM.LastName_Age." Please be sure to share the document with me as soon as it's created. Finally, respond to the following prompt:
Describe your current age. How does it feel to be the age that you are? In which situations do you, like Rachel, feel like you are a different age, either older or younger? In your writing, be sure to include at least three similes.
If you have finished this assignment, take a moment and read the following article about the White House Science Fair. Once you're finished reading, write a few sentences at the bottom of your "Age" document that summarizes the article, then tell me which of the three inventions intrigues you the most and why.
