Take a look at this article entitled "China 'to rent five percent of Ukraine.'" There are multiple articles on this page; you are only required to read the one regarding China. Read it carefully and, in your Google Doc, answer the following questions.

First, use the CIA World Factbook to find three facts about the Ukraine (Hint: It's located in the European region). You can refer to its area, population, birth rate, death rate, bordering countries, etc.

Do the same with three facts about China.

Define the following words using Dictionary.com

7. Burgeoning
8. Hectare
9. Conglomerate (use the second definition on Dictionary.com)

Read the article and answer the following questions using complete sentences.
10. How much land would China ultimately control in the Ukraine?
11. What two activities would take place on the land?
12. What other countries stopped such plans recently?
13. Why does China need to use this land? What is happening to its population and why can it not solve this problem on its own?
14. What countries have rented tracts of land in Africa?
